Biography

Adam began playing the piano at the age of seven. In his early-twenties he realised that his passion for music and the piano could not be just a pastime. In 2017 he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Music, after spending four years with the pianist Nicholas Ashton, and won the university Makin Prize for excellence in Instrumental Study and Performance. In early 2018 he was the recipient of the Chopin Medal and won First Prize at the Edinburgh Piano Competition Festival. In the same year he began studying with the pianist Simon Coverdale in Edinburgh, while also attending private lessons and Masterclasses at both the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Royal Northern College of Music. During this time he studied with renowned pianists Fali Pavri, BingBing Li, Craig Sheppard, Graeme McNaught, Norma Fisher and Petras Geniusas.

In 2020, Adam travelled to Verona, Italy, to take lessons with the Belgian pianist Jan Michiels, who then became his principal teacher at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels, where he graduated with a Master’s degree in Piano Performance in 2024. During his studies Adam was also a highly active chamber musician and has collaborated with various ensembles, performing both contemporary and well-known compositions.

Adam is also a passionate writer, and has embarked on the beginning stages of a PhD at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. This will centre around instrumental tuition and performance, with a particular focus on the piano. With ten years of teaching experience in both Belgium and Scotland, he now teaches piano privately and at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Juniors. His current project is to record and perform the often forgotten preludes by Alexander Scriabin Op. 11.
